Another warm day in Florida. We must be becoming true Floridians as it's almost 90 and I call it warm. We got some much needed rain. It was a typical rain with little wind and lots of lightening and thunder. Brinkley, our Golden Retriever puppy weathered the ruckus very nicely. Only one clap of thunder sent him scurrying to the master bathroom. Even the horses seem to relish the rain as they normally run for their shelter by stood out in their field facing the oncoming storm as if to say "bring it on". Even the goats hesitated before they ran for shelter. If you don't know . . . goats hate rain.
Lot's of work to do around the house this week. We always seem to be either building or tearing something down with our renovation of the farm. Saturday and Sunday we laid new plywood in our tack room and then trimmed the room to try and stop any rodent activity. Last year we had mice in the walls of the tack room and when we tried to poison them they of course died in the walls. My gosh the smell with 90 degrees with humidity was awful for weeks. A lesson learned the hard way. I cannot believe the amount of laundry I do. It takes just a couple of hours to trash an outfit.
We are buying our grain for the goats in bulk but for the rest it's a weekly trip to Knights for all of our grain. They seem to enjoy the Cadillac lady . . . ok, they probably laugh behind my back but as long as I am laughing to it's all good. I used to think it was OK to say that I was a converted city girl but that quickly back fired . . . so much for honesty. Seems that some folks think that being a former city girl makes you stupid. Nope, rather it means that I know a few things that they don't and vise versa. Besides we are never to old to learn something new.
Well, it ended up rambling today . . . next time I will share a funny experience.
